Job Description

Sales Estimator / Project Coordinator

Location: Remote. Must reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, or southern Virginia

Reports to: President

Employment type: Full-time

Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000

About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented Sales Estimator to prepare accurate quotes and bids, support the sales process, and carry accepted projects through to a smooth handoff and completion. This is a work-from-home position with occasional travel within our NC, SC, GA, and S. VA territory. The role pairs estimating and customer-facing sales support with light project management: scheduling, vendor coordination, and keeping jobs on track.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating and Quoting

  • Review customer requests, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare accurate quotes and bids
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate material costs
  • Obtain and compare pricing from suppliers.  Review for accuracy vs building plans and specs
  • Build proposals that reflect margin targets, lead times, and contract terms
  • Track bid activity, and follow up on outstanding quotes
  • Ability to interpret 2D architectural plans and product details to visualize 3D conceptual outcomes and explain implications to adjoining building systems or products

Sales Support

  • Work with the sales team and customers to clarify scope, answer technical questions, and refine proposals
  • Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and customer calls as needed
  • Identify upsell and value-engineering opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM

Light Project Management

  • Transition awarded jobs from estimate to execution, including scope summaries and budget baselines
  • Monitor timelines, deliveries, and open items; flag risks early
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers during the project
  • Process change orders and support invoicing and closeout

Product Expertise and Installation Support

  • Serve as the go-to product expert for customers, contractors, and installers with installation questions
  • Learn our product lines, specifications, and installation requirements well enough to answer questions accurately and quickly
  • Review installation guides, submittals, and manufacturer documentation, and explain them in plain terms
  • Troubleshoot installation issues by phone, email, or on site, and escalate complex problems to the manufacturer or vendor
  • Keep product knowledge current as lines, specifications, and installation methods change
  • Capture common installation questions and feed them back into proposals and customer guidance

Qualifications

Required

  • Residence in North Carolina, South Carolina, or southern Virginia
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating, inside sales, purchasing, or project coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, or product submittals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or estimating software
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting

Preferred

  • Experience in construction, building products, manufacturing, or a related industry
  • Familiarity with vendor and contractor relationships and agreements
  • Experience with estimating or project management software
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Core Competencies

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Sound judgment on pricing and margin
  • Follow-through and accountability
  • Clear, professional customer communication
  • Ability to work independently and stay productive in a remote, small-team environment

Working Conditions

  • Work from home, with a dedicated workspace, reliable high-speed internet, and a computer (company-provided)
  • Occasional travel for customer meetings, team gatherings, and factory-based product training.
  • Standard business hours, with flexibility around bid deadlines
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
